Re-enactment of the battle of Arapiles

This event features both experts and the local inhabitants who all take part in the commemoration of this historic battle.

In July, the town of Arapiles in Salamanca commemorates the battle that was fought here in 1812. This event was first held in 2012 and brings together historians from the countries whose armies took part in the battle, who recreate it as realistically as possible. During the re-enactment the participants dress up in period costumes made by the local people. An open-air arts and crafts market and the chance to enjoy a feast of stew or paella are among the other attractions of this festivity.
